The Bookcafe was born in the year 2000 and first opened it's doors as a quaint little bookshop in York. We added the cafe element in 2001 in a tiny little basement - 16 seats only.
Derby has now been home to The Bookcafe for over 15 years. In 2009 we moved into 21 Cornmarket and were involved in the restoration of this beautiful Grade 2 listed building, originally built as a bank in 1879.
We promise a friendly, relaxing & inspiring setting whether you visit alone or with a group of friends & family. Great coffee, drinks & food are our passion; whatever time of day you visit you'll find freshly made & quite often locally sourced dishes on our menus. We hold a 5 Star food Hygiene rating and are licensed from 8am til Midnight.

In June 2019 we opened our second unit in Belper in another unique listed building, The Orangery, Chapel St.
Built in1800's. The Orangery was once part of George Brettle's hosiery mill.
We offer the same quirky, friendly environment as our sister branch in Derby. Along with the same locally sourced, freshly cooked dishes.
In addition to our great indoor space we have a large outdoor seating area where you can hopefully enjoy the Derbyshire sunshine!
You can find us just off the A6 roundabout, next to Morrisons. We have a 25 space car park for our customers. .
